Process
Stages of appointment
1. Application
Candidates submit the formal application form with a CV and a statement explaining why they seek the role and how they meet the published prerequisites.
2. Eligibility review
The Registrar checks each application against the minimum credential and prerequisites in the role policy. Ineligible applications are closed with written notice.
3. Shortlisting
A selection panel appointed by the Governing Council scores eligible applications against the role policy. No panel member reviews a candidate with whom they have a conflict of interest.
4. Interview
Shortlisted candidates attend a structured online interview with the selection panel, covering governance experience, professional standing, independence and commitment.
5. Selection and references
The panel recommends a preferred candidate to the Governing Council. Professional references and declarations of interest are verified before any offer is made.
6. Appointment
The Governing Council confirms the appointment, which is announced on the Governance page. The term begins on the date set by the Council.
All GCSB roles are voluntary, not monetized and performed remotely.
